Discovery River Boats

The Discovery River Boats were a classic DAK attraction. The problem was, while they were a nice, sweet ride, it disapointed many guests. In how it was advertised to guests, and with the tour guide on the boat pointing things out, it felt to many like a Jungle Cruise or Safari type ride, when in reality it really was more just a transportation service.

When this attraction returns for the 50th, it will feature many of the same elements of the original, while being greatly improved. It will still primarily be a park transportation service, kind of like WS's FreindShip Boats. The boats themselves will be faster moving to get to their destination quicker (and help queues and capacity). Lastly, it will be an overall more enjoyable and fun experience. There will not be a story, per se, but there will be all sorts of sets and decorations to look at and enjoy that all represent what DAK is all about in one way or another. For example, when the boats loop by Everest, there will be sets by the nearby station that seem to be all teared up and with Yeti-esque footprints. Over by the entry bridge to DinoLand, look out for fossils burried and hidden, along with hidden Mickeys to explore for! In addition, all over Discovery island will be more controlled animal habitats for guests to appreciate.

There will be three stops, one on the bottom side of Discovery Island (over where the abandoned station still stands), one in Asia at the Rivers of Light seating area in front of Everest, and a new stop by the expanded Haramabe area where the Lion King is where a station would fit in beautifully. The ride will open at the start of the day, and will run until 6;00 PM, allowing time for Rivers of Light prep.
